Men's Soccer Brine/NEC Player of the Week
|
Steven Holloway, Monmouth
Holloway served as the offensive spark for a Monmouth team that assumed first place in the NEC after a 2-0-1 week. The Hawks, who are unbeaten in their last six outings, opened the week with a 1-0 win over St. Francis (NY) on Monday as Holloway recorded the game-winner nine minutes into the second half when he intercepted a clearance attempt and deposited a shot from 14 yards out. After a 1-0 double overtime victory at Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday, the Hawks found themselves in the midst of a scoreless deadlock with Sacred Heart late in the second half on Sunday when Holloway converted a corner kick off the foot of Tommy Gray with just 3:05 to play to give the Hawks a short-lived 1-0 edge. The Pioneers would score one minute later to salvage a 1-1 tie. The Hamilton, New Zealand native now leads the Hawks with four goals and ranks second with eight points.
