Alisa Apo, Sacred Heart

Apo retains her Choice Hotels NEC Player of the Week status for a second straight week as Sacred Heart retained its spot atop the league standings. The Pioneers’ sophomore point guard averaged 21 points, 6.0 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game in league victories over Robert Morris and Saint Francis (PA) that upped SHU’s NEC record to 6-0. Apo continued her sparkling shooting of late from all areas of the offensive end. The 5-foot-9 floor general connected on 12-of-20 (.600) field goals, which includes a 4-of-5 (.800) clip from downtown, and went 14-of-15 from the line. Apo poured in 27 points on 8-of-10 shooting against the two-time defending NEC champion Colonials. Ranking third amongst NEC leaders in assist-to-turnover ratio, Apo dropped eight dimes against only three giveaways in the 13-point triumph over the Colonials. Her hot hand proved especially useful in the second half of the Pioneers’ 76-64 win over Saint Francis (PA). Scoring all 15 of her points against the Flash in the second half following foul trouble in the opening stanza, Apo sparked a 13-0 run that sunk Saint Francis. With the game tied at 42-42 and less than 13 minutes remaining, the sophomore guard sunk back-to-back three-pointers that put SHU ahead for good.
