Men's Soccer adidas/NEC Player of the Week
|
Paul King, Fairleigh Dickinson
For the second year running, King began the season with a bang accumulating seven points in two contests. After an outstanding rookie campaign, the all-NEC performer moved from the midfield to the front line and wasted no time in getting the Knights on the scoreboard. In FDU’s opener on Sept. 1 against a Manhattan squad ranked 10th in the NSCAA/adidas North Atlantic region poll, King notched the game’s lone goal and game-winner 18 seconds into play. On Sept. 6, FDU hosted Hofstra and posted a 4-1 victory over the Pride, thanks in part to King’s two goals and one assist. After the first week of play, the New Castle, England product’s seven points pace the NEC. In 2008, King was the first rookie named to the league’s weekly honor roll before going on to earn the distinction three more times.
