Baseball Akadema/NEC Rookie of the Week
|
Conor McEvoy, Sacred Heart
McEvoy safely hit his way onto base in each of Sacred Heart’s four victories over the weekend. The freshman outfielder batted .467 (7-for-15) with six RBI during the Pioneers’ four-game NEC sweep of Fairleigh Dickinson. McEvoy was nothing short on sensational with runners in scoring position, producing five of his seven hits during such situations. McEvoy went 4-for-4 with four RBI in SHU’s 7-3 series-opening victory. The 5-foot-11 freshman connected on four consecutive RBI singles, which came in the first, third, fifth, and sixth innings. He went a combined 2-for-6 with one run during the middle two games of the NEC weekend series. McEvoy helped SHU erase an early 4-0 deficit in the series finale. He plated the Pioneers’ first run with a second-inning triple to centerfield and came around to score in the eventual 11-10 triumph. While helping power the Pioneers past FDU and back into the NEC playoff picture, McEvoy brought his season average up to .351 (20-for-57).
