Williams continues to wow the competition early on in her sophomore season. The 6-foot forward followed up back-to-back 25-point performances by averaging a double-double in leading Saint Francis (PA) to a 2-0 start in Northeast Conference play. Stepping up for a team that lost two starters before the season even tipped off, Williams averaged 20.0 points and 10.5 rebounds during the Red Flash’s two-game sweep of the NEC’s Garden State contingent. She shot 53 percent (15-of-28) from the field and logged six steals over the two-game sample. She opened the NEC schedule by putting up 19 points and 15 rebounds as the defending league champions topped Fairleigh Dickinson, 69-56. Two days later against Monmouth, in what was a rematch of the 2011 NEC Championship Game, Williams turned in her third 20-plus point performance in the last four games. She scored 21 points, pulled in six boards, and made five steals in the 82-69 triumph over the Hawks. Williams’ 18.6 ppg make her the league’s scoring leader in all games played through Dec. 5.

Senior
6-1
Taylor continued the season-opening tear that has her ranked atop the NEC leader board in rebounding and third in scoring. The 6-foot-1 forward came up one rebound short of what would have been her third double-double of the week. Leading the Pioneers in closing out a 3-0 week that followed the team’s first loss of the season back on Nov. 26, Taylor turned in a 26-point, nine-rebound effort at NEC Merritt Parkway rival Quinnipiac. The preseason all-NEC selection was 9-for-15 (60 percent) shooting from the floor against Quinnipiac, a mark that was actually a tad lower than the .606 field goal percentage she posted over the entire course of the week. Although she could not complete the hat trick in the 74-65 triumph over the Bobcats, Taylor still averaged a double-double of 20.0 points and 10.7 rebounds per contest last week. She put up 19 points, on 8-for-9 shooting, and 11 rebounds in a convincing 55-33 triumph over America East member Stony Brook before opening NEC play with the 42nd double-double of her career. Taylor accounted for 15 points and 12 boards in a 53-40 win over Central Connecticut. Despite touching the ball nearly every time down the floor, Taylor turned it over only five times in three games. She accounted for 33 percent of the team’s scoring last week (60 of 182 pts.).
