Callan Taylor, Sacred Heart
Overland Park, KS / Blue Valley North
F
Senior
6-1

No active Division I player has more double-doubles than Taylor and if she continues to play at her current pace it’s unlikely anyone will catch her.  Sacred Heart’s 6-foot-1 senior forward shot better than 60 percent from the field while averaging 22.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists over a pair of victories.  Taylor sported a hot hand in an 80-55 victory over Saint Peter’s, shooting 71.4 percent (10-of-14) on her way to 23 points and seven rebounds.  Three days later, she posted her third consecutive 20-plus point performance and fifth double-double of the season when the Pioneers hosted Cal Poly.  Taylor poured in 21 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in the 89-69 win over the Big West member. The versatile small forward went 18-for-29 (.621) shooting from the floor, including a blistering 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from beyond the arc, over Sacred Heart’s two-game sample.  Taylor ranks third amongst the NEC’s leading scorers (17.3 ppg) and second amongst rebounders (9.9 rpg).

Abby Martin, Monmouth
Maplewood, NJ / Columbia HS
F
Sophomore
5-10

Martin appeared happy to be home following Monmouth’s grueling seven-game road trip. The New Jersey native posted a monster double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds in the Hawks’ 73-64 triumph over intrastate rival Saint Peter’s.  She also blocked four shots in helping the Hawks snap a three-game slide.  The second-year power forward needed only 24 minutes of court time against the Peahens to pour in season-high 21 points.  The 5-foot-10 post player was the epitome of efficiency in terms of shooting the ball.  Martin went 7-for-11 (.636) from the floor and 7-for-10 (.700) from the free throw line in Monmouth’s third win of the season.
