Elardo topped the season-opening shot put and weight throw marks that earned him the inaugural NEC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week award of the 2011-12 indoor campaign.  On the way to his second consecutive weekly honor, Elardo won both throwing events at the Lehigh “Fast Times Before Finals” Invitational. The veteran Hawk put the shot 17.35m (56’ 11.25”), a 13-centimeter improvement over his mark at the MAC Classic.  Elardo also added 13 centimeters onto his league-leading weight throw mark.  Easily topping the 28-entrant field at Lehigh, the Garden State product hurled the 35-pound implement 17.96m (58’ 11.25”).
