Freshman
After initially winning the award based upon his prowess in the triple jump, Hazell retained the NEC Men’s Rookie of the Week title by virtue of his long jump performance at the Harvard University Open. Breaking into the NEC Top 3 in a second event (Hazell ranks second amongst NEC triple jumpers), the first-year Pioneer long jumped 6.52m (21’ 4.75”) in only his second collegiate appearance. In addition to accounting for the third-best long jump mark in the NEC, Hazell ran the anchor leg of the Pioneers’ first-place 4x440 yard relay team. The winning time (3:24.62) converts to 3:23.42 in metric terms and ranks second in the league.
