Laury led Fairleigh Dickinson to a sweep of the NEC’s Brooklyn-based contingent this past week and extended her streak of 20-point performances in the process. The 5-foot-7 guard averaged 26.5 points, 5.0 steals, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per contest over the two-game sample that extended the Knights’ win streak to four in a row. Laury had her best back-to-back performances of the season in terms of shooting the ball last week. The Garden State product was 20-of-35 (.571) shooting over the two road wins. In an upset of LIU Brooklyn on Jan. 16, which was tabbed third in the NEC preseason poll and burst out of the gate to go 11-1 in non-conference play, Laury made 11 of 17 attempts from the field and finished with a game-high 25 points. Two days prior, FDU’s leading scorer poured in 28 points on 9-for-18 shooting to go along with seven steals in a 70-60 triumph over St. Francis (NY). Laury has scored no fewer than 21 points in any of her last four outing, and no fewer than 25 in each of the last three.

Junior
5-7
Barron continued her torrid play during Quinnipiac’s swing through the Keystone State. The junior point guard averaged 25.0 points, 3.0 assists, and 2.5 steals per contest in winning efforts at Robert Morris and Saint Francis (PA), two teams that received first-place votes in the NEC preseason coaches’ poll. Barron shot well from all areas of the floor during the two-game sample. She hit 56 percent (14-for-25) of her field goal attempts, including a 9-for-16 (.563) clip from downtown. Barron made 13 of 15 (.867) free throw attempts, the bulk of which came in Monday night’s victory at Robert Morris. The 5-foot-7 Bobcat went to the line 12 times, hitting 11 freebies, on her way to a game-high 26 points in the 82-74 triumph. Two days earlier, she poured in 24 points on 8-for-11 shooting and logged five assists in an 85-73 win over the defending NEC champion Red Flash. Although her average dipped below the 5.0 per game mark, Barron still leads all of NCAA Division I in steals (4.9 spg).
