Williams closed the regular season portion of her sophomore campaign in grand fashion. She averaged 22.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 7.0 steals per contest over a two-game sample against the first- and second-place finishers in the NEC standings. In the regular season finale at Quinnipiac, a 77-71 triumph, the Flash’s second-year post player did something that had not been done in NEC play in nearly four full years. Williams turned in the first triple-double the NEC has seen since Robert Morris’ Chinata Nesbit completed the feat during the 2008 NEC Tournament. Going up against a team that features the NCAA steals leader, Williams looked like an accomplished larcenist. In addition to her 18 points and 15 rebounds, she made 12 steals, a mark that tied Quinnipiac’s Felicia Barron for the top spot in the NEC’s all-time single-game record book. Two days earlier, Williams put up 26 points, 12 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks in a narrow defeat to Sacred Heart, which went onto earn the No. 1 seed in the upcoming NEC Tournament. For the week, Williams shot 51.4 percent (19-of-37) from the floor.

6-0
Spanou made it seven double-double performances in a row last week and is averaging a double-double (17.0 ppg, 11.0 rpg) for the season heading into the 2012 Northeast Conference Women’s Basketball Championship presented by Ruby Tuesday. The sophomore forward averaged 24.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.0 steals during Robert Morris’ final two regular season games, which pitted the Colonials against the top-two finishers in the conference standings. Spanou, who has tallied a double-double in 17 of her last 18 outings, accounted for 24 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, and three steals in a 72-62 victory over Quinnipiac. Two days after her performance helped knock the Bobcats out of first place, Spanou produced her 11th 20-point performance of the year against NEC regular season champion Sacred Heart. The Greek National Team member totaled 24 points, 13 rebounds, four assists, and three blocked shots in a 70-66 overtime setback at SHU. Using her ability to score from numerous areas of the floor, the 6-foot tall Spanou was 18-for-38 (.473) shooting, including a 3-for-7 clip from downtown, over the two-game sample.
