Shams picks up his second NEC honor of the 2011-12 season after winning the Player of the Month award earlier this month.  The Cairo, Egypt native went 2-1 in #2 flight singles play and paired up with Arvis Berzins to post a perfect 3-0 mark at #1 doubles.  Shams beat Jesse Frieder of Boston University, 6-1, 6-3, and rallied to defeat Fairfield’s Ian Tesmond - who has posted a 17-5 record on the year - by a 3-6, 7-6 (1), 6-1 count.  He also took All-WCC honorable mentionplayer  Levin Guillermo of Gonzaga to three sets before falling.  The Knights won two-of-three matches on their spring trip to Palm Springs, CA, including victories over BU and Fairfield.
