Emily Pepe, Sacred Heart
East Quogue, NY / Westhampton
A
Junior
The junior attacker collected 14 total points while helping the Pioneer’s avoid play-off elimination, secure the number one seed in the NEC tournament and a share of the NEC regular season championship. Pepe scored four goals with ten assists in the two games combined and set a new school record in the process. On Friday night, she scored twice and assisted on four other SHU goals as the Pioneers topped Bryant 11-10. Pepe did all her scoring in the first half helping the Pioneers build a 7-4 lead at the half en-route to the win. The junior was then a major factor in Sunday’s win, scoring twice and dishing out a career-high six assists. The New York native couldn’t have picked a better time for her offensive outburst as the Pioneer’s entered the second half of Sunday’s game down 9-4, but with 30 minutes remaining Pepe scored once and assisted on four of the Pioneer’s goals, including the assists on Alyssa Dorsey’s game winner. Her eight points also marked a career-high, while her six assists gave the junior the school record for assist in a season with 43. She breaks the record of 38 set by Mary Montesarchio during the 2008 season.
