Patrick Peterson, Sacred Heart
Gloversville, NY / Gloversville
Distance
Sophomore
Peterson put forth a breakthrough performance that landed him the No. 30 ranking amongst the NCAA East Region’s top half-milers. Contesting the “Friday Night Distance Races” at Princeton’s Larry Ellis Memorial Invitational, the second-year Pioneer clocked in at 1:49.89 to claim the gold medal. Peterson finished 0.81 second better than the runner-up in his heat, which also featured then-NEC leader, and former conference champion, Gigi Gibilisco of Mount St. Mary’s. Not only did Peterson’s performance come in well under the IC4A Championship qualifying standard, but it was nearly a full second better than the 12-year old NEC Outdoor Championship meet record (1:50.88).
