Two weeks ago, Monmouth’s Jennifer Nelson was the NEC leader in the 5K before Sacred Heart’s Brittney Lane wrestled that title away. Now, the top spot on the NEC performance list has a new occupant in the 5,000m category and her name is Rebecca White. Bringing back memories of former Bobcat distance runner Kaitlyn Gwyther, who set the outdoor conference meet record for the 5,000m run in 2006, White finished the race in 16:48.25 at the Penn Relays.  The second sub-17:00 time recorded by a NEC athlete this season makes White the new favorite heading into this weekend’s NEC Outdoor Championships.
