Simply put Palmer was off the charts during Quinnipiac’s NEC series split with LIU Brooklyn. The sophomore third baseman posted astronomical numbers highlighted by a .714 batting average and 1.000 slugging percentage over the four-game conference set. Palmer, who picked up his first NEC Player of the Week award on April 16 for his 11-for-17 weekend clip against the Mount, went 10-for-14 with a double, home run, seven RBI, and three runs scored. While helping spoil the last of LIU’s postseason hopes, he posted a NEC-best .750 on-base percentage. Palmer produced two of the five hits in support of Fabrizio’s one-hitter in Game 2 of the series on Saturday. In the first half of Sunday’s doubleheader, an eventual 13-4 triumph for the Bobcats, the corner infielder went 3-for-3 with three RBI, three runs scored, and a bases-loaded walk. The North Jersey product blasted a two-run bomb with one on and none out in the fourth inning before adding a run-scoring double in the sixth as part of the 13-run Game 3 explosion. Palmer went 4-for-5 in the series finale while driving in three of Quinnipiac’s four runs. The man manning the hot corner for Quinnipiac went 7-for-8 at the plate in 16 innings of baseball on Sunday.
