Baseball NEC Pitcher of the Week

Fabrizio was nothing short of fantastic in picking up his first win during the second half of the Bobcats’ NEC doubleheader this past Saturday. The sophomore right-hander delivered a one-hit masterpiece in Game 2 of Quinnipiac’s four-game set with LIU Brooklyn. Taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning, Fabrizio struck out seven and walked none in the eventual 1-0 complete-game victory. After LIU’s Tito Marrero reached on a fielding error leading off the third inning, the second-year Bobcat recorded 11 straight outs, four via strikeout, before watching his no-hit bid end with two down in the sixth inning. Flirting with NEC history, Fabrizio fanned the first two batters he faced in the sixth before Brad Greve’s high pop fly dropped into left field just inside the third-base line. One batter after his no-hit bid came to a close, the righty came back to induce an inning-ending pop-up from last year’s NEC batting champion Tyler Jones. Fabrizio then came on to throw a clean seventh frame with a fly out, a strike out, and a groundout ending it.
