Daunno has been rock solid for New Jersey City for the duration of her senior year, and she was no different when contesting the final regular season event of her collegiate career in Nashville. The veteran bowler spearheaded the Gothic Knights’ nine-win showing at Vanderbilt’s Music City Classic. Going up against a number of America’s top teams, Daunno posted a 21.29 overall frame average to top all NEC players who contested the three-day event. After a 2-6 start to the tournament, the Daunno-led Gothic Knights kicked their play into high gear and proceeded to reel off seven straight victories. After winning their final four matches of Saturday’s traditional team competition, New Jersey City had a sensational Sunday in best-of-seven championship baker play. Daunno threw 66 strikes in 111 attempts during baker competition, and was the key catalyst in Sunday’s victories over No. 10 Saint Francis U, No. 12 Sacred Heart and No. 15 Valparaiso. The Gothic Knights won two of the three matches via four-game sweeps. In Saturday’s traditional round, the Garden State product exceeded the 225-pin mark in three of six matches, including a 243 game against No. 5 Vanderbilt. She posted a 216.2 game average over the six-match sample, producing a mark that was good enough to land her on the Music City All-Tournament Team as one of two NEC representatives. Daunno left only 18 opens in 134 frames bowled over the course of the entire weekend, accounting for an .886 filled frames percentage.
