Amanda Kelly, Central Connecticut

Kelly came within 23 centimeters of reaching the ECAC qualifying standard in the 20-lb. weight throw by producing the conference’s third-best mark (15.77m) this season at the Lafayette-Rider Winter Games. In addition to finishing second amongst all competitors in the weight, Kelly logged another runner-up finish in the shot put by setting CCSU’s program record at 12.16m (39-10.75). The first-year Blue Devil is the first CCSU athlete to win a Road Runner Sports Athlete of the Week award since Nicole Dumpson did so on Feb. 11, 2003.
