For the second straight week, Choice Hotels NEC Player of the Week plaudits goes to Sacred Heart's Joey Henley, who averaged a double-double to help the Pioneers extend their win streak to four with a pair of home victories. Henley averaged 15.0 points and 11.5 rebounds, while shooting 52.6 percent from the floor. The Kent, WA native first posted 14 points, a season-high 13 boards, a block and a steal in a 71-51 win over St. Francis (NY) on Thursday. In a 38-minute stint on Saturday, he finished with 16 points and ten rebounds in Sacred Heart's 77-69 victory over in-state rival CCSU. Henley, a graduate student, now ranks second among active NEC players with 1,221 career points and 589 career boards. Long Island freshman forward Julian Boyd earns his league-leading fourth Choice Hotels NEC Rookie of the Week award of the season after averaging 15.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week for Long Island. Boyd scored a career-high 18 points in just 24 minutes in a 69-63 setback at Quinnipiac on Saturday. He played a career-high 33 minutes in a wild 91-88 double overtime win over Fairleigh Dickinson two days earlier, tallying 13 points and nine rebounds, including a pair of dunks to bookend a 6-0 run as the Blackbirds rallied from a six-point deficit in the first extra session.
