Hershey, PA --
Fairleigh Dickinson took the lead from the start and never looked back as it captured its second consecutive NEC women’s golf title. The Knights, under the guidance of head coach Rob Warren, landed three golfers in the top-four as they led throughout the competition firing rounds of 311, a league championship record 299, and 310, respectively, for a three-day total of 920. With a third-round 306, Long Island (943) bumped Sacred Heart to earn second place by two strokes as the Pioneers logged rounds of 319-313-313 (945) to take third. SHU head coach Matt McGreevy was tabbed 2009 NEC Coach of the Year, as voted by his peers for his efforts. Robert Morris (328-335-315=978) and Saint Francis (PA) (338-309-335=982) landed in fourth and fifth, respectively, while Mount St. Mary’s was slotted sixth (335-317-338=990). Central Connecticut State edged Monmouth (364-344-359=1067) for seventh after carding a day-three 335 for a combined 1028. Rounding out the field of 10 were St. Francis (NY) (368-351-361=1080) and Wagner (376-367-358=1101).

Desjardins, a six-time NEC Golfer of the Week this season, shot a one-under 71 in the third round on the 5,899-yard Hershey Links course, marking the second under par score of the tournament. A pair of Knights took third and fourth, respectively, as junior Eva Mayr (Schwendi, Germany) bookended her day-two 73 with a pair of 77s (227) and sophomore Lisa Warrilow (Gnossal, Staffordshi, UK) logged rounds of 76-78-74 for a three-day total of 228.
