Somerset, NJ - In the league's first ever awards presentation for Men's Lacrosse, Robert Morris junior attacker Trevor Moore (Port Coquitlam, BC/Western Reserve Academy) was selected as the NEC Men's Lacrosse Player of the Year in a vote by league head coaches. Bryant senior defenseman Matt Murnane (Rockville Center, NY/Oceanside) claimed NEC Defensive Player of the Year accolades, and Mount St. Mary's freshman attacker Andrew Scalley (Arnold, MD/Archbishop Spalding) earned NEC Rookie of the Year. The Mount's head coach Tom Gravante was tabbed NEC Coach of the Year.

Moore was a dynamic offensive threat for the Colonials this season as he tallied a league-best 60 points and 3.39 points per game. He ranked second in assists per game (1.67), while his numbers helped lead RMU in the Conference with the most points per game (24.20), assists per game (8.87) and goals per game (15.33). On the national scene, Moore consistently ranked in the top-20 in multiple categories. In the most recent poll, the Port Coquitlam, BC native ranked 10th in points per game, 15th in assists per game and 27th in goals per game. He led his team to a 10-5 overall record and helped the contingent earn its first national ranking in program history (19th). As a team, RMU ranked first in three NCAA categories: scoring offense (15.33), assists per game (8.87) and points per game (24.2). Back in March, Moore garnered the first honor in men's lacrosse as NEC Player of the Month and now earns a spot on the All-Conference First Team.

Murnane helped lead a tightfisted Bryant defense that limited foes to 112 goals in 17 games for a 6.56 goals against average (1st in NEC). Individually, the defender grabbed 4.12 ground balls per game, good for third in the league. He also finished with two assists and 42 caused turnovers and 70 ground balls, both overwhelming Conference-best marks. Nationally, the Rockville Center, NY native ranked as high as fourth in caused turnovers, while the Bulldogs ranked high among other Division I institutions; however, their team and individual marks do not officially count in the polls due to BU's reclassifying process. For four weeks in a row, beginning Apr. 19, BU unofficially ranked first in scoring defense. To conclude his career, the senior finds a place on the All-NEC First Team.

Earning one-of-two major postseason awards for the Mount, Scalley was an integral part of the MSM offensive arsenal, which earned itself a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament championship title after defeating Siena, 7-6. That seventh - and final goal - of the game came from the freshman with four ticks remaining on the clock. It also marked his third of the match, leading Mount to victory and their first berth in the NCAA tournament since 2003. That performance, coupled with his semifinal game results, he clinched Most Outstanding Player of the Tournament. Throughout the regular season, the Arnold, MD native ranked in the NEC's top-10 for goals per game (1.88), assists per game (1.00) and points per game (2.88). At season's end, he finished with a league-leading five game-winning goals. Scalley was tabbed NEC Player and Rookie of the Week twice, and though he is not a member of the All-league First or Second Team, he did earn a place on the All-Rookie Team.

Mount's second major award went to their head coach, Gravante, for leading his team to a MAAC Tournament title 11 days ago. Wrapping up his 15th year at the helm, he has also won MAAC Coach of the Year honors three times and led the group to five title games. After being picked eighth in the MAAC preseason poll, Gravante coached his team to a second seed in the tournament. This year marked the second time he led the Mount to a NCAA tournament appearance, the first being in 2003. Since the league was form in 1996, the Frederick, MD native has tallied a 71-16 regular season MAAC record, including a 12-5 overall record in 2010.

Along with Murnane, BU earned two other spots on the All-NEC First Team in the form of sophomore Max Weisenberg (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach), a two-time NEC Player of the Week, and junior Anthony Iannello (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY/Sachem North). Weisenberg ranked in the NEC top-10 for goals per game (1.81) and points per game (2.56) while ranking second with three game-winning goals. Of the midfielder's 29 goals, six were recorded as man-up scores, which ranked him sixth in the league with 0.38 man-up goals per game. The sophomore also came away with 33 ground balls. Iannello complemented Murnane on the backline, helping with the defensive success of the Bulldogs. He notched 46 ground balls along with 16 caused turnovers and got through for a goal and an assist this season.

Joining Moore on the First Team for RMU is junior Corbyn Tao-Brambleby (Port Coquitlam, BC/Western Reserve Academy) and sophomore Kiel Matisz (Stoney Creek, Ontario/Saltfleet). Tao-Brambleby, the Apr. 19 NEC Player of the Week, was another major key to the Colonial's attack as he was second in the league in goals (41) and goals per game (2.73) as well as points per game (3.40), on 53 total points. Six of his scores were man-up goals - 0.40 per game (4th in NEC). Nationally, the attacker ranked 24th in points per game, eighth in goals per game, and No. 1 in shot percentage (0.532). Matisz had a national ranking of 41 in points per game (3.13) and was tied for fifth in the Conference. He also ranked in the league's top-10 for 1.93 goals per game (T-6th in NEC) and 1.21 assists per game (6th in NEC). The middie ended the 2010 season with 46 points through 15 games.

Filling out four spots on the All-NEC First Team are Mountaineers, including Cody Lehrer (Baltimore, MD/Dulaney), Bryant Schmidt (Great Mills, MD/St. Mary's Ryken), Russell Moncure (Alexandria, VA/T.C. Williams) and T.C. DiBartolo (Bowie, MD/Archbishop Spalding). As only a sophomore, Lehrer was crucial in the Mount's scoring drive as he finished the season with the NEC's most goals (48) and goals per game (2.82). He also collected third in the points per game category with 3.35. The sophomore's total points (57) ended second-best. For his efforts, he earned NEC Player of the Week twice. As a newcomer to the squad, Schmidt enjoyed a standout first season in the middle of the park, scoring 20 goals and assisting on 16. He also collected 14 ground balls. The sophomore also earned a NEC Rookie of the Week accolade and a place on the All-Rookie Team. Moncure held things together in the defensive half, tallying 24 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. The senior even snuck over half field to score one goal on the season. DiBartolo was phenomenal between the pipes for MSM. He ranked third in the league in goals against average (9.39) and topped the leaderboard for save percentage (.590) and total saves (219). In NCAA ranks, the junior's numbers for goals against average notched 24th position and fifth in save percentage.

The final position on the First Team was garnered by Sacred Heart's Tim Katz (Freeport, NY/Freeport). Katz led the Pioneer attack, notching 2.13 goals per game (5th in NEC), 1.00 assist per game (T-7th in NEC) and 3.13 points per game (T-5th in NEC). The senior also scooped up 12 ground balls.

On the Second Team come four Bulldogs, three of which found their home in the midfield: Andrew Hennessey (Wading River, NY/Shoreham-Wading River), Matt Larson (Chesire, CT/Chesire) and Gary Crowley (Scituate, MA/Scituate). Hennessey, a faceoff specialist, played in 11 games and won 101 faceoffs, losing just 56, for a NEC-best .643 faceoff percentage. Larson notched 26 points for BU on 24 goals and two assists, while Crowley pitched in 17 goals of his own and four assists. The fourth Second Team Bulldog comes in the form of goalkeeping stalwart Jameson Love (Darien, CT/Darien). Love earned the inaugural award for men's lacrosse with a NEC Defensive Player of the Month accolade in March before tallying three more NEC Defensive Player of the Week selections. His 6.51 goals against average was the league's best in 2010, while the Darien, CT native's .587 save percentage placed second in the Conference standings. He also made 9.29 saves per game (4th in NEC). His numbers unofficially ranked atop NCAA leaderboards for goals against average four weeks in a row.

Spreading the length of the field, RMU notches three places on the Second Team with attacker Pat Smith (Westminster, MD/Westminster), midfielder Kyle Buchanan (Nepean, Ontario/John McCrae) and defender Jordan Sealock (Airdrie, Alberta/George MacDougal). Smith raked in 30 goals on the season, along with 15 assists for 45 points. He also grabbed 27 ground balls. His goals per game (1.93) came in tied for sixth in the NEC, and the redshirt junior's assists per game (1.00) and points per game (2.93) both ranked seventh among Conference foes. He also earned NEC Player of the Week recognition in the last installment of awards in March. Buchanan added goals and assists to the Colonial arsenal with nine and 21, respectively. The sophomore's helpers were good for third in the league. Sealock, a senior, combined for 33 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers while making his way far enough up the field to assist on three scores.

Quinnipiac enjoys recognition in the postseason as Christian Haggerty (West Nyack, NY/Onondaga CC) and Jake Glebocki (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug/Northfield Mount Herman) were named to the Second Team. Haggerty was a powerful assist man for the Bobcats as he ranked first in the Conference with 1.79 assists per game. He also finished fourth with 3.21 points per game. Glebocki got his work done defensively for QU with 27 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers through 14 games played, all of which he started.

A one-time winner of the NEC Rookie of the Week award, sophomore Brett Schmidt (Great Mills, MD/St. Mary's Ryken) and senior Matt Nealis (Chatham, NJ/Chatham) own the final two positions on the All-league Second Team for the Mount. Schmidt joins his twin brother Bryant on the MSM lineup and on the All-Conference team. Brett also enjoyed a breakout first season as he played on the offensive line, in front of his brother, and tallied 17 goals and 19 helpers, fittingly tying Bryant with 36 points. Nealis finished his career at MSM after collecting 19 ground balls and causing six turnovers. The Chatham, NJ native started all 16 games on the season.

Filling the other seven spots on the All-Rookie Team are BU's Peter McMahon (Wilton, CT/Wilton) and JK Poirier (Coatesville, PA/Malvern Prep), QU's Basil Kostaras (Southlake, TX/Episcopal School of Dallas), SHU's Bryan Badolato (West Islip, NY/West Islip), RMU's Kevin Brownell (Burlington, Ontario/Central) and Wagner's Cody Isdaner (Gladwyne, PA/Episcopal Academy) and Colin O'Rourke (Worcester, MA/St. John's Shrewsbury). McMahon was one of the top rookies in the league as he finished the season with 18 goals and 14 assists for 32 points. He also started all 15 games he played for the Bulldogs where he amassed 28 ground balls. The attacker also twice earned recognition for NEC Rookie of the Week. Classmate Poirier started 10 of 17 games played, tallying 17 assists and seven goals and grabbing 26 ground balls. The Coatesville, PA native also earned NEC Rookie of the Month back in March to kick off the weekly awards in 2010. For the Bobcats, Kostaras was a helper in the midfield as he notched three times as many assists (9) as he did goals (3), earning 12 points on the year. Badolato scored eight goals and had three assists for the Pioneers in his debut season. Brownell played all 15 games for the Colonials, starting one. In just 60 minutes of work, the redshirt sophomore scored 16 goals and added 11 assists. As a freshman, Isdaner led his Seahawks with 27 points (17g, 10a) and nabbed 23 ground balls. The attacker also started 14 of 15 games for the year and earned a NEC Rookie of the Week honor in mid-April. Classmate O'Rourke was second on the team behind Isdaner with 23 points (18g, 5a). The middie recorded the team's second most ground balls (37).
