Emmitsburg, MD -- The Mount St. Mary’s University student-athletes helped to provide two families a happy holiday season. Sponsored by the Mount’s Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), the 19-intercollegiate sports team raised money and purchased gifts and food for two underprivileged families in the area.
The Mount sponsored two seven-person families through the Seton Center, Inc., Outreach Program. Each team was responsible to provide gifts and food for one member of the family.
It marks the fourth year that Mount St. Mary’s has teamed with the Seton Center, Inc., to help provide families a better holiday season.
About the Seton Center, Inc.
The Seton Center, Inc., is a nonprofit agency located in Emmitsburg, Maryland, that provides services for people in need, primarily in northern Frederick County. Many of the families we serve are working people living at or below the poverty level.
Although these people aim to be self-sufficient, even a minor emergency can result in unpaid bills or loss of housing. Staffed by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul and community volunteers, the Center provides services to all members of the community. Services are provided within the framework of the core values of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul: respect, quality service, simplicity, advocacy, and creativity.
