Monmouth Womens Soccer Earns NSCAA Team Academic Award for 14th Straight Year

12/7/2011

West Long Branch, NJ -- For a 14th straight year, the Monmouth University women's soccer team was named a 2011 NSCAA College Team Academic Award Winner, the organization announced this week. A total of 789 soccer teams (218 men, 571 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2010-11 academic year.

Of that total, 154 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized, including Monmouth University.

“It is a terrific accomplishment that our program is recognized on a yearly basis for this award," stated head coach Krissy Turner. "It is a credit to our student-athletes, coaches and support staff to our commitment of achieving in the classroom.”

The women logged an overall grade point average of 3.35, while the Monmouth men's side sported an overall gpa of 3.11 to earn the award as well.

Highlighted by a trio of All-Northeast Conference first team performers, the Monmouth University women's soccer team placed six players on all-league teams in 2011, including senior midfielder Courtney Snyder, junior defender Stacy Kadell and sophomore forward Dana Costello. The Hawks also had three members added to the inaugural All-Rookie Team in Kim Clemmer, Jill Root and Jocelyn McCoy.

Turner, who has now mentored 54 all-conference players in her 14th year at the helm of the Hawks, guided the Hawks to their 14th overall Northeast Conference Tournament appearance this season, and their sixth straight season with a double-digit victory total.
