SFPA's Gatoraid Pong Event
Loretto, PA – Before the holiday break, Saint Francis University held its second annual Gatorade Pong Tournament, bringing in $1,000 for the Zack Hinish Foundation.
For their latest fundraising effort, the Zack Hinish Foundation is working on “I Can Skate, Too!” a project designed for purchasing adaptive ice skating equipment at Galactic Ice in Altoona, Pa. In addition to the fundraising angle, the event also supplied alternative late night programming for all students on campus.
The ever-growing event featured 73 teams and over 150 people in attendance. First place was awarded to men's volleyball members Dominik Stork and John Beck. Football and women's soccer were represented with a second place showing by Anthony Bowman and Laura Stayrook. Taking home third place honors were members of the men's cross country and track and field team Chris Fischer and Chris DeLaney.
Sponsors for the event included the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and their new Party Smart initiative, the Office of Drug and Alcohol Services with Cindy Baney, Red Radio and Loretto Pub and Grill.
LPG delivered wings to all participating students while the Office of Drug and Alcohol Services and Baney provided educational materials.
