Northeast Conference Track & Field Release (1/31)
1/31/2012
LIU Brooklyn long jumpers Brian Richards and Jessie Gaines captured the NEC Field Athlete of the Week awards on the men’s and women’s sides, respectively. It was the third field honor of the season for Gaines, who leads the league in both the long and triple jumps. Central Connecticut junior Aaron Radden added the NEC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week award to his resume after turning in a blazing-fast 200-meter time and an IC4A qualifying 60-meter performance at the Boston University Terrier Invitational. The Mount's Desi Scott set the standard in the 800-meter run at Penn State this past weekend and claimed the women’s track honor as a result. The rookie awards went to Mount St. Mary’s freshman Coby Rosemier-Gussio, his send such accolade of the season, and Quinnipiac rookie half-miler Rebecca Stabile.
