Saint Francis (PA) came away as the big winner this week, sweeping the NEC Men’s Soccer Weekly Awards after a 2-0 week that put the Red Flash atop the league standings. Senior forward Wayne Tiller earned NEC Player of the Week honors after scoring a goal and an assist in identical 1-0 wins over Bryant and Sacred Heart. He netted his game-winner in the win over the Pioneers, just two days after setting up the deciding tally at Bryant. His teammate who was on the scoring end of that assist, freshman Pedro Machado, captured the NEC Rookie of the Week award. Machado earned his first collegiate point when he struck paydirt on that score. He then earned his second point in a Red Flash uniform and his first collegiate assist when he returned the favor to Tiller, setting up the senior in the Sunday contest against SHU.
