Northeast Conference Track & Field Release (3/20)
3/20/2012
After enjoying an accolade-filled indoor campaign, Mount St. Mary’s freshman Coby Rosemier-Gussio opened his first collegiate outdoor season with more honors. The first-year Mountaineer put forth an impressive 200m dash time to finish near the top of a loaded field at the Wake Forest Open and has both the NEC Men’s Track Athlete and Rookie awards to show for it. The men’s field honor went to LIU Brooklyn’s triple jump record holder Wilmot Stubblefield. On the women’s side, Saint Francis (PA) saw its good start result in the both the track and field honors. Sprinter Alexis Hurd, who is the early season NEC leader in the 100m and 200m dashes, captured the track award, while veteran shot putter Christin Bridge took the field accolade. The women’s rookie award also made its way to the Keystone State. Robert Morris freshman thrower Aubree Gray, a Middletown, PA product, notched a season-opening discus mark that qualified her for the ECAC Championships.
