Northeast Conference Track & Field Release (4/10)
4/10/2012
A pair of distance runners from the NEC’s Constitution State contingent headline a list that also features a trio of Mount St. Mary’s athletes. Central Connecticut’s Sam Alexander ran the ninth fastest 10K in the NCAA East Region and finds himself earning the NEC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week award as a byproduct. Meanwhile, Quinnipiac’s Becca White clocked in well under the ECAC Championship qualifying standard in her latest 3K performance to earn the NEC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week honor. The men’s field and rookie awards both went to Mountaineers. Long jumper Quinton Huguley, the NEC field honoree, surpassed the IC4A qualifying standard and moved up to third in the NEC. Sprinter Coby Rosemier-Gussio, who trimmed his 200m time down to 21.32, holds the men’s rookie honor for the second week in a row. On the women’s side, Mount freshman javelin thrower Heather Juhring took both the field and rookie awards.
