Brooklyn Heights, NY -- St. Francis College (NY) women's golf head coach Julio Campuzano has announced that Canton High School senior Nikki Liucci has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play for the Terriers in 2012-13.
“I believe that Nikki has the ability to come in and make a positive and immediate impact both academically and athletically,” says Campuzano. “She brings an impressive golf resume to St. Francis. Nikki, along with Michelle Provengh and Drewanne Shubeck, who signed earlier this past fall, will make a great impact on our program.”
A six-time medalist, Liucci has made quite the impression on the course. Last season, Liucci was co-captain of the 2011 squad while playing in the #1 spot for the second consecutive year. Amongst the accolades that she attained during the 2011 season included All-State Team and SCGGL All-Conference First Team honors.
In 2010, she fired her best round ever with a 78 in the very competitive CTPGA to finish tied for second place. During the year, she earned four medals and was named to the 2010 Hartford Courant All-State Honorable Mention Team. In addition, she was a SCGGL First Team All-Conference selction.
According to her high school coach, John Manners, Liucci was a “special golfer” ever since she carded a 45 at Tower Ridge, her first match as a freshman. Last season, she became the first all-state golfer in Canton's program, which is now in its fifth year of existence. “She's been the best thing that's ever happened to golf at Canton High School,” said Manner.
Liucci intends to study Business Management at St. Francis. Outside of school and the golf course, Liucci volunteers her time fundraising for a local charity.
