4/3/2012
Freshmen dominated this week’s NEC Softball Player of the Week selections as Central Connecticut rookie Laura Messina took home NEC Pitcher of the Week honors, while Fairleigh Dickinson’s Bryana Dorado garnered the NEC Rookie of the Week nod. In 24.2 innings Messina posted a 0.85 ERA and struck out 35 to averaging 1.24 Ks per inning, while Dorado booked a .500 batting average over five games, boasting five RBIs, four runs and a home run. Quinnipiac senior Mina Duffy earns NEC Player of the Week honors after going four-for-seven against NEC pitching. But her weekend was highlighted by two homeruns, one of which was part of the Bobcat’s NCAA record breaking string of four consecutive homeruns in game one against Sacred Heart.
