Fairleigh Dickinson took three of the four weekly tennis awards handed out by the Northeast Conference on Tuesday. FDU’s Mark Hemy claimed the NEC Men’s Player of the Week award and his freshman teammate Arvis Berzins picked up NEC Rookie of the Week honors for the third week in a row. Hemy was a perfect 3-0 in singles play last week. Berzins went 2-1 with the two victories coming over opponents from 2011 NEC Tournament finalists Sacred Heart and Quinnipiac. Fairleigh Dickinson’s Egzona Morina earned the NEC Women’s Player of the Week award after posting a pair of straight-set victories over singles players from top-tier regional programs – Binghamton and Quinnipiac. The women’s rookie honor went to New Zealander Rosie Bird, who doubles as the field hockey team’s top goal scorer at Bryant.
