Northeast Conference Baseball Release (4/30)
4/30/2012
No one played a more vital role in Central Connecticut’s crucial series victory over Wagner than NEC Player of the Week Josh Ingham. The second-year Blue Devil delivered significant contributions from both second base and the pitcher’s mound to help Central win three out of four games from the Seahawks and move into sole possession of the final NEC playoff spot. On the way to his third NEC Pitcher of the Week award this season, Monmouth’s Pat Light struck out 15 batters, the most by a NEC hurler since former Hawk Glen Keeton fanned 15 in 2004, and walked none. The NEC Rookie of the Week award has co-recipients for the second week in a row. This time a pitcher and a designated hitter share the honor. Quinnipiac’s Vin Guglietti led the circuit in batting average last week, while Bryant’s Kevin McAvoy took the ball for Bryant’s series finale against Fairleigh Dickinson and pitched the Bulldogs to a split of the four-game set.
