Brooklyn, NY -- LIU Brooklyn senior Jessie Gaines has earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Second Team All-America honors in the triple jump, released by the organization in March. Gaines represented the Blackbirds at the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 10.

Gaines set a new school record in the triple jump on Feb. 4 at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational, leaping to a mark of 13.14 meters. The mark shattered her previous record of 12.8 meters set in 2011.

This year's Northeast Conference Indoor Championships MVP, Gaines was also recognized by the NEC three times during the season as the women's field athlete of the week.
