NEC Men's Lacrosse Weekly Release (4/9)
4/9/2012
No. 19 Bryant showed the voters that it was worthy of its national ranking by going 2-0 last week, defeating Brown, 10-9, and Mount St. Mary’s, 17-9. With the wins, not only did the Bulldogs keep their ranking, but they were also rewarded with all three NEC weekly awards. Junior attackman Peter McMahon, this week’s NEC Offensive Player of the Week, orchestrated the offense in the 17-9 victory, scoring two goals and dishing out a career-high six assists, including the one that set-up Alex Zommerfield for the game-winning score. Defensively, Jameson Love was back to his old tricks, stopping a combined 22 shots and moving his record to 9-2 on the season. He currently leads the league in every goalkeeper category. Speaking of league leading, freshman Kevin Massa grabbed his sixth rookie of the week honor after winning nearly 70 percent of his faceoffs taken. He also grabbed 20 ground balls, 12 of which came against the Brown Bears.
