Hackensack, NJ -- Fresh off the Fairleigh Dickinson women’s tennis team’s first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, Head Coach Ira Miller was voted as the women’s ITA Regional Coach of the Year for the northeast region, announced by ITA Tennis on Monday.

"I am very proud and humbled by this honor given to me by my coaching peers,” Miller said “It is a true reflection of the outstanding effort and wonderful achievements of the women's tennis team, the great support we have received from the FDU administration, and the hard work and amazing commitment from first year assistant coach Jonathan Buchman."

Miller, who was named Men’s and Women’s Northeast Conference Coach of the Year earlier this season, was voted by his fellow coaches to take home the ITA award for the first time in his career. Between his time at FDU and Drew University, Miller has earned 15 conference Coach of the Year awards.

Guiding the Knights to a 16-8 record on the year, Miller helped the Knights to a historic season, which included their first ECAC Championship appearance, first NCAA Tournament appearance and first NEC Championship since 1988.

Under Miller’s tutelage, junior Anna Rapoport went 18-3 in singles action en route to NEC Player of the Year honors. He also coached five other players to First or Second Team All-NEC recognition for singles, to go along with two doubles teams that earned NEC postseason awards.

Miller and the other 12 regional winners will be considered for ITA’s national award.
