Saint Francis (PA)'s Elise Löfgren Earns Academic All-District Nod, Spot on National Ballot

5/18/2012

Loretto, PA -- Saint Francis University swimmer Elise Löfgren has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District II First Team, it was announced on Thursday. Already a Northeast Conference champion 10 times over, the sophomore has maintained a perfect grade-point-average of 4.00 while pursuing a degree in Chemistry.

Löfgren has played a large role in helping the Red Flash to NEC team titles in each of her first two seasons in Loretto. At the 2012 championship she earned six individual gold medals and set new league records in the 100-meter breaststroke, the 200- and 400-meter medley relays, as well as the 800-meter free relay.

The All-NEC first-teamer will now advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

A student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a scale of 4.00 to be eligible for nomination to the All-District ballot. CoSIDA's District II is comprised of Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
