Bryant's Jameson Love Named USILA Scholar All-American

5/30/2012

Smithfield, RI -- Bryant University senior captain and four-year starting men's lacrosse goalie Jameson Love (Darien, Conn.) has been named to the 2012 USILA Scholar All-America Team, as announced Wednesday.

The top goalie in Bulldog lacrosse history, Love adds this honor to a growing list of accolades throughout his career and in 2012. The Scholar All-America selection is the second academic honor of the year for the two-time captain, who graduated with a degree in business, after being named to the NEILA All-New England Senior Scholar-Athlete Team earlier this month.

On the field, the Dean's List honoree was tabbed as the 2012 Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Year, an all-conference first teamer and the NEC Tournament Most Valuable Player, and Love graduates as the program's all-time leader in career saves (666), saves per game (9.94), games started (67) and total wins (44). A three-time All-NEC selection, he led the Bulldogs to a 14-4 record in his final season between the pipes and guided the program to its first-ever Division I national ranking in 2012. Love also leaves Bryant ranked in the all-time top five in career ground balls (197), caused turnovers (36), save percentage (.562), goals against average (7.82) and games played (67).

A three-time NEC Defensive Player of the Week choice in 2012 and 10-time pick over the last three years, the Connecticut native finished his career as the active NCAA Division I leader in both career saves and goalkeeper minutes. In 2012, he wrapped up his senior season with a trio of top-10 national rankings, finishing third in the nation in save percentage (.602) while ranking eighth in both saves per game (11.33) and goals against average (7.49) to earn a place in the USILA North/South Game May 25.

A two-time Northeast Conference Academic Honor Roll selection, Love has started every Division I game in program history for the Black and Gold, and graduates with an impressive 65.7 winning percentage and a 44-23 career record between the pipes.
