Pennington, NJ - Wagner incoming freshman Eric Fanning (Trenton, NJ / Perkiomen (PA)) was named the MVP of the 2012 Mary Kline Classic at the Pennington School after scoring 30 points with four rebounds. Fanning teamed with Wagner football recruit Bruce Brittingham (Trenton, NJ / Perkiomen (PA)) to lead the Blue Team to a 126-111 win over the Red Team in the Senior All-Star Game.
The Second Annual Classic helped to raise over $20,000 for The National Brain Tumor Society and also featured signees from schools such as Fairfield, Hofstra, Iowa State, James Madison, Miami, Penn State, Pitt, Rice, SMU, Temple, Villanova and Wake Forest.
As a senior at Perkiomen, Fanning averaged 20.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game in leading the Panthers to a 25-3 record and both the Tri-County Regular Season and Tournament Title. Fanning capped his outstanding career, which saw the Garden State native score 1,186 points in just two seasons, by helping Perkiomen to a 69-32 romp over Delaware Valley Friends in the Championship Game.
Fanning and Michigan State transfer Dwaun Anderson (Suttons Bay, MI / Suttons Bay) committed to Wagner in the early signing period and will join a talented Seahawk squad, which returns nine letters and four starters from last year's 25-win team.
