Emmitsburg, MD -- Fresh off its first Northeast Conference (NEC) Men's Golf Championship, the Mount St. Mary's men's golf team learned that it will be headed to Greensboro, N.C. for the NCAA Championship Greensboro Regional on May 17-19, announced on Monday night.

The teams in the regional (listed in order of seeding) are Auburn, UNLV, Florida, Duke, Indiana, Liberty, Southern Methodist, Texas Tech, Tulsa, Lamar, Loiusiana-Lafayette, Charlotte, George Washington and Mount St. Mary's.

The regional will be held at the Grandover Resort East Course. Teams will participate in a practice round on May 16 before playing three rounds over the course of the following three days.

Mount St. Mary's will be making its first NCAA Championship appearance after winning its first NEC title on Sunday by 18 strokes. The Mount went into the final round with a nine-stroke lead and finished with the best-round score of 300 on Sunday to secure the crown. Head coach Kevin Farrell was named the NEC Coach of the Year while Kevin Ellison (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt), Devin O'Grady (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township), Tonny Aizpun (Barcelona, Spain/Lycee Francais De Barcelone) and Danny Michalek (Mount Airy, Md./Mount St. Joseph) finished in the top-7 to be named to the All-Tournament team.

Ellison, who finished third at the NEC Championships, is averaging 76.6 strokes per round this season. The sophomore won the ECAC Championship on Oct. 1 for his other top-5 finish this season.

O'Grady placed fifth at the league championship to become the fifth golfer in program history to finish in the top-10 in two seasons after finishing ninth at the NEC Championships as a freshman. O'Grady leads the team with a 75.5 strokes per round average and also finished third in the ECAC Championships and fourth at the Rehoboth Beach Invitational on Sept. 26.

Aizpun was sixth at the NEC Championships while Michalek was seventh in the event. Aizpun is third on the squad with a 76.0 strokes per round average and posted ninth-place finishes at the Holiday Inn Pittsburgh Airport Colonial Classic on Oct. 12 and at the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational on Apr. 17.

Michalek, the lone senior on the team, is second on the team with a 75.8 strokes per round average and a team-best four top-10 finishes. The senior also finished third at the Holiday Inn Pittsburgh Airport Colonial Classic and at the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational while placing eighth at the ECAC Championships.

Ryan Triller (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) rounds out the Mount's five competitors that participated in the NEC Championships. The freshman carded a 242 in the three rounds to finish in 41st place. Triller finished second at the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational and fourth at the ECAC Championships while averaging 76.7 strokes per round this season.

Andrew Lawton (Severna Park, Md./Mount St. Joseph) has competed in six events this season, including a ninth-place standing at the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational.

Mount St. Mary's as a team posted an average of 301.1 strokes per round this season, including 13 rounds of 300 or lower. Along with winning the NEC Championship, the squad won the ECAC Championship in the fall. The Mount also shot a program-record even round of 288 in the second round of the Towson Fireline Invitational on Mar. 31.
