Monmouth's Vincent DuVernois Named To Capital One Academic All-America Third Team

West Long Branch, NJ -- Monmouth University junior Vincent DuVernois (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) was named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

“Vince has worked very hard at both school and training for the javelin and earned his way to another successful year," commented Monmouth head coach Joe Compagni. "He is a great competitor and great role model for our team.”

DuVernois, the Northeast Conference and IC4A Champion and a 2011 second-team All-American in the javelin, hit 217'6" on his second attempt at the NCAA East Regionals to advance to the finals, where he eventually finished 14th - just 11 inches from his second straight trip the NCAA Finals, despite improving to 217'8" on his last attempt.

The league champion in 2012, DuVernois led the NEC pack in the javelin on the year, posting a heave of 225' 7" (68.77m) at the Penn Relays, while earning a 3.8 GPA in business marketing at Monmouth.

About the Academic All-America® Program
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
