Jesus Medina Signs NLI with Sacred Heart Baseball

Fairfield, CT -- Sacred Heart University Head Baseball Coach Nick Giaquinto has announced the signing of Jesus Medina to a national letter of intent to join the two-time defending Northeast Conference champion Pioneers next season.

Medina comes from New York City, were he was standout infielder and pitcher at Manhattan Center for Science and Math.  In his senior season of the 2012, he hit .417 with an OBP of .491, and SLG % of .688.  In 16 games, he went 20-48 with 14 runs, nine RBI, three doubles, two triples, two homeruns, and eight stolen bases.  On the mound, he went 2-1 with a 2,25 ERA in 28 innings, striking out an astounding 49 batter with only 11 walks in that span.  For his efforts, he was named to both the New York Post All-Manhattan First Team and the New York Post All-City First Team.

He had similar success as a junior in 2011, hitting .410 with an OBP of .596 and league best 17 walks while striking out only twice all season.  He went 16-39 in 15 games, scoring 20 runs with 13 RBI, three triples, two homeruns, and nine stolen bases.  On the mound, he went 3-1 with a 1.85 ERA in 30.2 innings, scattering 21 hits to along with 27 strikeouts.  He also earned New York Post All-Manhattan First Team honors.
