Brittany Davis Added to CCSU Women's Lacrosse Staff
New Britain, CT -- Head lacrosse coach Kelly Nangle has added Brittany Davis to her coaching staff for the upcoming year. Davis brings five years of club coaching and Division I playing experience to her first collegiate coaching position.
"I am excited to join the Central Connecticut women's lacrosse family and I appreciate the opportunity Kelly Nangle and the athletic department has provided me," Davis said. "Lacrosse has always been an important part of my life, so being able to turn it into a career has always been my dream."
"I am excited to welcome Brittany into our Blue Devil family," Nangle said. "Her energy and passion for the sport of lacrosse is going to have an incredible impact on our student-athletes. Brittany's knowledge of the game and her experience as a player is going to be instrumental in developing our attackers. I am thrilled to have her on the sidelines with me as we continue to take this program to new heights."
Davis, a 2012 graduate of Rutgers, played her final three collegiate seasons for the Scarlet Knights. She appeared in 41 games over that time, including seven starts playing midfield and attacker. During her career with Rutgers, Davis scored 25 goals, recorded four assists and controlled 24 draws.
Nangle, who was named Northeast Conference Coach of the Year after her first season with the Blue Devils, was an assistant coach at Rutgers during Davis' first two seasons with the Scarlet Knights.
Prior to Rutgers, Davis attended the University of Delaware for two years. She played in 18 games and made four starts for the Blue Hens.
Since 2009, Davis has served as the head coach of the Long Island Yellow Jackets club lacrosse team, in addition to working numerous lacrosse camps and serving as a referee for local youth lacrosse games.
Before college, Davis was a four-year varsity starter for Shoreham-Wadding River High School in New York. She earned numerous honors athletically and academically in a standout career as a student-athlete.
"Not only am I completely honored and humbled to be given the opportunity to coach at the collegiate level, I am working under one of the most passionate and hard working coaches I have ever known. I am eager to begin building relationships with the student-athletes and cannot wait to get out on the field. With this opportunity, I plan to not only grow and learn as a coach but also put everything I have into the success for this program," Davis added.
