2012 SCHEDULE

Staten Island, NY --
The Wagner College women’s soccer team has announced its schedule for the upcoming fall season. The 2012 slate features 19 games, with eight of them being played on Grymes Hill.

The schedule will take the Green & White through five different states, as the team will play 11 games in New York (eight home, three away), in addition to three in Pennsylvania, two each in Connecticut and New Jersey, and one in Massachusetts. The Seahawks begin the season with nine consecutive non-conference games, featuring four opponents from the MAAC, two from the Patriot League, and one each from the America East, Great West, and MEAC.

“Our 2012 non-conference schedule appears to be a bit tougher than last year as we have some real quality opponents,” Wagner Head Women’s Soccer Coach Mike Minielli said. “The Northeast Conference (NEC) is going to be very competitive again from top to bottom. The parity in our league has been really good over the past couple years and that’s going to continue. While I think it will be a challenge for us, we’ve improved and are coming off our first winning season, so I think we’re ready for an upgrade.”

The campaign begins on Sunday, Aug. 19, when Wagner travels to Worcester, MA to take on Holy Cross. The Seahawks play on the road again two days later, when they face defending MAAC champion Marist in Poughkeepsie, NY.

The home opener for Wagner will take place on Friday, Aug. 24, as Stony Brook comes to town. The two-game homestand concludes on Monday, Aug. 27, when the Seahawks host Saint Peter’s.

Wagner opens the month of September with a road trip to Fairfield, CT, to meet the Stags on Sep. 2. On Friday, Sep. 7, the Seahawks host their final home non-conference match when Howard travels to Staten Island.

The non-conference portion of the schedule concludes with three road games in eight days. On Sunday, Sep. 9, Wagner travels to Newark, NJ, to take on NJIT. Three days later, the Seahawks travel to Manhattan in a Wednesday night contest vs. the Jaspers in Riverdale, NY. Wagner’s final non-conference contest will take place against Lafayette on Sunday, Sep. 16 in Easton, PA.

The Seahawks commence NEC play begins on Friday, Sep. 21, when Wagner hosts Bryant. The Green & White then travel to Fairfield, CT, to take on Sacred Heart on Friday, Sep. 28. The first full weekend of NEC play wraps up on Sunday, Sep. 30, when the Seahawks travel to LIU Brooklyn.

October begins with a home game against Quinnipiac on Friday, Oct. 5. The Seahawks then split the following weekend between home and the road. On Friday, Oct. 12, Wagner makes the short trek to Teaneck, NJ to face Fairleigh Dickinson before returning home to host Monmouth on Sunday, Oct. 14.

The following weekend, the Seahawks play their final two home games of the regular season by playing host to Central Connecticut on Friday, Oct. 19, and Mount St. Mary’s on Sunday, Oct. 21.

Wagner closes out the regular season with a two-game trip to the Keystone State. The Seahawks face Saint Francis (PA) in Loretto, PA, on Friday, Oct. 26. The regular season ends on Sunday, Oct. 28, with a game in Moon Township, PA, against Robert Morris.

NOTE: Game times for the 2012 season will be announced at a later date.
