FDU Women's Volleyball Earns AVCA Team Academic Award

For the second year in a row, the Fairleigh Dickinson women’s volleyball team was awarded with the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for maintaining an overall grade point average of at least a 3.30 for the 2011-12 academic year.
The award, which began during the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that maintained at least a 3.30 cumulative team GPA on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
FDU is one of five Northeast Conference schools to be recognized, joining Bryant, Central Connecticut State, Robert Morris and Saint Francis PA.
There were 103 Division I programs to receive the award during the 2011-12 school year, which is an AVCA record.
This year’s squad will kick off the 2012 campaign at the Hofstra Asics Invitational on Friday, Aug. 24, in Hempstead, NY.
