CCSU Men's Soccer Alum Klukowski Helps Club to 2-2 Draw
Central Connecticut men's soccer alumnus Yan Klukowski scored a pair of goals for his club the Forest Green Rovers on Sunday. Klukowski headed his second goal in the final minutes of action to tie the score and give his club a 2-2 draw with a talented Manchester United XI squad.
Klukowski's first goal of the match came in the 47th minute and tied the score at 1-1. For his performance, Klukowski was named Man of the Match.
The match with Manchester United XI was a preseason friendly to benefit the charity organization of the Sustainability in Sport Foundation.
Klukowski joined Forest Green in July of 2010 and last year became one of the team's star players. He registered 18 goals over 37 matches during the 2011-12 season. He was also honored as the Man of the Match twice.
A 2009 graduate of CCSU, Klukowski was the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year following his freshman season and was an All-NEC selection four times during his career. A two-year captain, Klukowski helped lead the Blue Devils to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament in 2007.
In 2006, he was a member of the Great Britain University Team that competed at the World Championships in Thailand.
Klukowski also spent time with the football clubs Ottawa Furry and the Western Mass Pioneers before joining Forest Green.
