Quinnipiac Women's Lacrosse
Hamden, CT -- The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team was honored for a seventh consecutive year by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Award (IWLCA) as a 2012 Academic Squad. Quinnipiac was one of 42 schools honored nationwide after posting a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher.

"I am incredibly proud of the team's academic performance. One of their goals for the season was to post a 3.2 or higher team GPA and they did that." Said women's lacrosse head coach Danie Caro upon the recognition from the IWLCA.

Among those also earning 2012 Individual Honor Roll awards were Bobcats' graduated senior Kim Davis (Darien, Conn.) and senior Emily Mason (Fairfield, Conn.). To be eligible, student-athletes must have reached a junior status for their school and receive a GPA of 3.5 or higher to qualify. Davis earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Quinnipiac last year while Mason is majoring in psychology and elementary education.

"Kim and Emily are both very strong students and deserve this recognition."  Caro commented. "They are good role models for our younger players because they have shown they can successfully handle the demands of being a student athlete. I am pleased to see their hard work pay off for them."

In the 2011 season, the women's lacrosse team had three players qualify for the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll team, and has placed numerous student-athletes on the honor roll in each of the last seven years.
