Conference

The 2012 men's and women's cross country seasons kicked off this week, and runners from Quinnipiac and Wagner swept the weekly awards. The Bobcats Rich Klauber and the Seahawks Dan Zaccariello earned NEC Co-Athletes of the Week Accolades. In his first meet for Quinnipiac since 2009, Klauber placed second at the Stony Brook Invitational in 19:17. Zaccariello finished second out of 92 competitors at the Monmouth XC Kick-Off in 19:30. Klauber's teammate, freshman Brendan Copley, earned NEC Rookie of the Week honors for his fifth place finish at the Stony Brook meet. He was the fastest freshman finisher in 19:49. On the women's side, Alexis Bivona of Wagner had the best finish of an NEC participant at  the Monmouth XC Kick-Off, a fourth place in 14:43 and earns the NEC Athlete of the Week honors. Ashley Carle of Quinnipiac is the NEC Rookie of the Week for her 9th place performance in 15:24 at the Stony Brook Invitational.
