State College, PA -- The St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers' fantastic season came to an end in the first-round of the 2013 NCAA College Cup after they fell, 1-0, against the No. 16 ranked Penn State Nittany Lions on Thursday evening.

The Big Ten champions, who improved to 12-5-2, struck for the game-winner with just 8:56 remaining in the first-half as Eli Dennis converted a cross from Drew Klingenberg and beat Terriers' keeper Jack Binks from eight yards out.

The Terriers tried to respond in the 32nd minute as senior forward Gabriel Bagot centered the ball and sent a left-footed attempt deep in the Nittany Lions' zone but it was stopped by keeper Andrew Wolverton.

St. Francis Brooklyn controlled most of the play in the second-half and had their best chance to even the game early in the stanza on a free-kick but Northeast Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player Kevin Correa curled a well-struck ball that smacked the left-post with 32:15 remaining.

With just under eight minutes left, St. Francis Brooklyn had another golden opportunity as Bagot was unable to get a foot on a loose ball at the top of the box with Wolverton caught out of position.  The ball eventually bounced to Correa but his attempt was fired right at Wolverton for an easy save.

Shots on goal were all even at 10 and Binks made two saves in the match.  The hosts took five corners compared to just one by the Terriers.

Despite the loss, it was a sensational season for the Terriers as the squad won their first Northeast Conference championship in 15 years and recorded a 12-6-1 record.  The Terriers also enjoyed a 4-1-1 mark at their brand new facility at Brooklyn Bridge Park.

The Nittany Lions will travel to UC Santa Barbara to compete in the second round.
