Brooklyn, NY -- With Thanksgiving just around the corner, the LIU Brooklyn Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) held a food drive to help provide needy individuals and families with a holiday meal.
Members of the SAAC collected over 200 cans of food from around the LIU Brooklyn campus and loaded those cans into a collection van to take back to The Bowery Mission, an organization that helps to provide meals, shelter and services for homeless people in New York City.
This past year, donors and volunteers helped The Bowery Mission provide more than 376,700 meals, 35,400 bags of groceries, 79,900 nights of shelter and 57,400 articles of clothing to those in need.
