Saint Francis U Men's Golf Concludes Season at NCAA Regional

Pullman, WA -- 
On the final day of the NCAA Pullman Regionals, the Saint Francis U men's golf team shot a team score of 313, placing them in 14th place.

The Red Flash compiled a 927 (300-314-313) three-round score at Washington State University's Palouse Ridge Golf Club. No. 1 ranked California shot a course record 43-under par 821 to capture the NCAA Pullman Regional.

The Golden Bears set an NCAA record with their 11th tournament title this season and garnered their second-straight regional title. California's Michael Weaver carded a 2-under par 70, in the final round to tie for medalist honors with Southern California's Sam Smith at 14-under par 202, for the 54-hole event. The Golden Bears, along with Texas Christian, Saint Mary's, Southern California and Ball State advance to the NCAA Championship.

Freshman Chris Stricek (Binghamton, N.Y./Windsor) posted the best individual finish for Saint Francis, a tie for 68th in the 75-player field. Stricek and James Ferguson (Altoona, Pa./Tyrone) each collected the best rounds of the final round for SFU, at a four-over par 76. Both men shot each of the three rounds under 80. Ferguson totaled a 231 (76-79-76) for the tournament and gained sole possession of 71st place. Jeff Chastel (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) concluded his efforts in 73rd with a three-day score of 236 (71-80-85).

Kevin Fawcett (London, Ontario/Oakridge Secondary) and Shane Crampton (London, Ontario/Saunders Secondary) rounded out the Red Flash participants, finishing back-to-back in 74th and 75th. Fawcett carded a 238 (80-79-79) while Crampton posted a 242 (83-77-82).
